Recommended Software
- Visual Studio, if you're coding on Windows
- Resharper, no self repection developer should be without this
- JetBrains Rider, Keep an eye on this, we probably wont need Visual Studio much longer (Using this more and more now)
- #Develop, Free and a great place to start but development seems to have slowed (is there something new now?)
- Tortoise for Mercurial, SVN, HG, don't work with code without one of these
- 7Zip, all the file comression you will likely ever need
- KDiff3, can be compared with even those who think they are beyond it
- Paint.net, all the photo and bitmap image maniplulation most people need
- InksScape, frees and completely awesome line drawing and vector graphics
- GIMP, If you need PhotoShop, but can't pay for it
- VNC, if the built in RDP is not an option
- VLC, quick and simple media playback, plays almost everything
- Kodi, For more serious media playback and streaming, like when that is the only thing you are using your PC for
- Knopix, got to love the 3D window manager and other great stuff here
- IPCop, You've got a 'good' firewall, right?
- CruiseControl.Net, The only one in C# and the one we actually use
- Hudson, more features and comlpetely free, but in Java and easy to get too coupled.
- TeamCity, probably the best currently, but also in Java and starts to cost a bit if you need to use it a lot
- Libre Office, Liberate yourself
- FireFox, still the most serious browser, but you got to be on top of your addins
- Vivaldi, new for us, but this browser rocks!
- ThunderBird, pretty much the only 'propper' email client left.
